Mounts for sale

Hawkins Taxidermists Ltd. does not sell taxidermy products as a readily available retail commodity.
On occasion we may have something canceled by one of our customers. If we do we will post it on this page,

Marking hides

After your trophy is processed and fleshed it is tattooed with a punch right into the hide (See Below). This allows for easy identification after the hide is tanned.

After doing taxidermy for over 90 years we have perfected how we mark customer hides to ensure absolutely no error.

Click here for a closer view of the hide.

How to Measure a Mounted Fish

To measure your mounted fish accurately, measure the front side of the fish. Then measure the outside or backside of the fish mount. Take those two measurements, add them and divide by two. The inside part of a concave mirror is always shorter than the outside.

Why Can't I get a Final Price on My Bear Rug?

We do not take the measurement for billing until after tanning. A "green hide" (a raw skin) acts like a rubber band. If we took your bear's measurements before billing we would be able to stretch your hide longer than it really is, just like a rubber band. If we didn't have this policy you would pay more than you would have to.

Protected Bird Policy

Hawkins Taxidermists has a zero tolerance policy on the mounting, buying and selling of any protected animal. We will not mount any protected animal without the proper permit. Should we receive any correspondence regarding the illegal buying and selling of protected animals, we will notify the Canadian or US Fish and Wildlife office.
